Marina did not get the big Joby Aviation prize of a manufacturing facility—that went to Ohio—but a decision yesterday from the California Competes grant program run by the Governor’s Office of Business and Economic Development (GO-Biz) secures a bigger footprint for Joby in Marina.
The $9.8 million grant comes with a pledge from Joby to create 690 new jobs as it expands its presence in Marina, Santa Cruz and San Carlos. Joby has committed to spend an additional $41.3 million in California.
